About us
The Independent Tea Producers’ Association of Kenya (ITPAK) serves as a unifying body for private tea manufacturers, supporting around 300,000 small-scale tea farmers who contribute their green leaf produce to 30 privately owned factories. Our organization operates in a non-partisan manner, dedicated to fulfilling the specific needs of our members through lobbying, advocacy, research, and training, all guided by our association’s constitution and governance manual.
Our primary objective is to foster a conducive policy environment that promotes trade and growth within the private tea sector.
We actively engage in industry-wide discussions to enhance the tea industry’s overall quality and standards.
ITPAK’s member factories are renowned for their expertise in value addition, particularly in the packaging of tea under local brands that enjoy widespread popularity nationwide. We command a substantial 50% share of Kenya’s value addition market, a testament to our members’ commitment to quality and innovation.
Moreover, ITPAK has taken a leading role in the production of specialty teas, investing in state-of-the-art machinery for orthodox, green, purple, oolong, and white tea varieties. This strategic investment has enabled us to establish ourselves as pioneers in the specialty tea segment, contributing to the diversity and excellence of Kenya’s tea offerings.
